These exit boxes are used on a lot of Niagara 31’s and Niagara 35’s. The common problem with these is that the aluminum sheaves seize up in the box and the wire halyard starts to saw its way through and results in premature halyard wear. This is a common occurrence with boats that have been in salt water. Another challenge is the removal of the exit box. Most times the #10 screws are stuck. What we recommend is drilling out the screws and sending the exit box to us and we’ll make new stainless sheaves and supply rivets for reinstallation.
