One of the most important things to keep an eye on is the boom lift. This is a sample of an old style, which is still in service today, on an aluminum mast. Note the toggle fork fitting which allows for universal type action. This minimizes stress on the wire at different points of sail. Some of the earlier versions used a nicro press eye and a smaller wire diameter. I would strongly recommend inspecting this part of your rigging at least once per year. A failure here can put a serious dent in your day. Look for signs of rust at the point where the wire enters the fitting because this is likely where it will break. (Either on top or at the bottom end)
